The Release of

Confessions After Dark
(After Dark #2)
is almost here!

Confessions After Dark is the sequel to Angel After Dark!  Here is an excerpt from a review for Angel from Perusing Princesses Blog:  Kelly said: "Angel After Dark is a riveting, passionate and honest account of how two intelligent, professional and emotionally detached individuals find solace in another. It’s a story of relinquishing control and inviting someone in, even though the concept is alien and utterly terrifying."
Alex is even more delicious in Confessions, I promise!  The snarky banter and battle for control continues, but more angst, secrets and off-the-charts passion!

Sparks Fly … Lines Blur… Hearts Break
Alexander Avery is rich, powerful and the sexiest man Angeline Hemming has ever laid eyes on: a man like every woman dreams about. Angel is not immune to his sensual and ruthless pursuit, and Alex is intoxicated by the beautiful doctor; overwhelmed with desire like he’s never known.
As one of Angel’s profiling cases gets more and more dangerous, Alex finds himself filled with unfamiliar panic and emotional turmoil; his need to protect her goes against Angel’s adamant insistence that she doesn’t need his help. He isn’t a man to sit on the sidelines when the woman he’s obsessed with is threatened, so he takes control to protect her without telling her of his plans.
Angel’s fortitude is shaken when her stalker invades not only her personal life but also those close to her… even when that someone is as powerful and seemingly untouchable as Alexander Avery. Professional ethics insist she keep the details or her work secret, even as their newfound closeness has her yearning to confide in him. But, as Angel’s quest to protect her heart from Alex’s undeniable pull equals her need to keep him out of a dangerous situation, circumstances dictate a huge decision; which could have detrimental, and irreversible consequences for them both.
When danger threatens and jealousy reaches the boiling point, lies will be told and secrets kept… Even with the best intentions and the most undeniable connection … the deepest of loves will be tested.

Release date: April 14th, 2014!

Instantly, Angel’s mood changed. He was impeccably dressed in a dark, expertly tailored navy suit, crisp white shirt, and a silk tie in shades of silvery grey and navy. She raised her eyebrow and grinned.
“To what do I owe this honor?”
Alex glanced around her office, registering the same elegant style that graced her condo: dark woods, sleek but plush upholstery, fine art, and a Persian rug that covered the majority of the floor in dark teals, ivory, and light mauves. He walked around her desk and took her hand, pulling her up and into his arms.
He’d recognized the bastard he’d just passed in the reception area. After seeing his face, he did recall the billboards and commercials for his dry cleaning business.
Alex sighed. His determination to ruin Swanson’s life renewed as he pulled Angel closer. He hated her job, hated the risks that came with it, hated the way it made him feel, and really hated the fucker that just left. If he had his way, he’d never let her out of his sight. But, he couldn’t tell Angel any of that.
“It’s simple. I wanted to look at you. You’re beautiful.”
Angel calmed as his arms wrapped around her and hers slid around his neck of their own volition. His green eyes burned over her face, the intensity out of place for a casual visit. “Well, you’re seeing me,” she said softly. The fingers of her right hand ghosted over his jaw as she met his gaze before her lids dropped and her chin tilted, silently asking for his mouth to find hers.
His lips hovered above hers as he breathed in her sweet scent; he moved the tip of his nose slowly around hers. “Are you okay? Who was that?” Alex wanted to see if she’d tell him the truth.
“Just a subject. Are you gonna kiss me or what?” He laughed quietly as he teased her mouth with light licks and gentle brushes.
“Depends on the or what.”
Angel giggled. “Oh, baby, don’t tease me.”
“Oh, I will. You can count on it.”
“Promises, promises.”
Alex’s hand moved up her back to thread through her silken hair that was falling in soft waves down her back. His pulse quickened as his mouth finally found hers in a hungry kiss, his tongue invading her mouth until...

(Sorry! That's my  job to keep you hanging on...) :-)

Angel After Dark, releasing in January, 2014.

The release of my next book, Angel After Dark, is looming on the near horizon!  I'm really excited!  The second in the series is just about done also, so it will follow soon on the heels of the first! Yippee

You 're going to fall in love with Alexander Avery!  He's a brilliant, alpha male, who's used to giving orders and taking no prisoners... always in complete control of his environment; in business and in bed: He's used to getting what he wants, when he wants it... especially with the opposite sex.  Angeline Hemming, is a beautiful, sassy, clinical psychologist who moonlights as a late night radio show host, a gig she took to use as a platform to promote causes she supports.  Her past has conditioned her to be strong and self-sufficient, so she has little time for womanizers, users or women who act like door mats.

Alex is furious when he finds out that his current girlfriend-of-convenience called into Angel's show complaining about him, but he's more livid at the host's advice. All hell breaks loose when these two control freaks "meet" via one very heated and stimulating telephone call.  It's impossible for either to deny the incredible attraction, despite coming to blows and never having laid eyes on each other.

The series is full of fun, snarky banter and hotter-than-hell love-play as the chemistry explodes between them!  But don't worry, in typical Kahlen fashion, there will be tears, heartache and angst as they fight it out for control over each other and more, fight their own conflicted feelings.

Throw in a little mistrust, betrayal and danger...and it's ON!

Watch for cover reveal, blog tour sign up and more tasty treats, coming soon.....

I stopped to scan the snack bar.  It was nice, set up like a restaurant with wooden booths and tables.  Ryan hadn’t said where to meet him and my eyes scanned the room.  I didn’t see him, but the Student Union was large and there were a lot of students walking through and hovering around tables and at the end of a few of the booths.  I felt self-conscious walking around like a moron, looking into booths and glancing around like I was lost.  Many sets of curious eyes met mine while I wandered around seeking the striking blue gaze of the man I met two hours earlier.
I caught sight of him quickly pushing in the front entrance doors, his eyes scanning the room.  He didn’t see me right away, but was rapidly put upon by a group of others, a dark haired man and two women; one with long blonde hair and one with cropped red locks.  I was anxious and my feet wanted to move toward him, but I hesitated as I watched the group engage him.  His gorgeous face split into a grin and he nodded, the blonde’s hand coming out to wrap around his bare forearm.  He was wearing jeans and a long sleeved white T-shirt, the cuffs shoved up to show strong muscle and golden skin, the blue and green plaid shirt he wore over it, hung open.  He looked hot; the layers doing nothing to disguise the hard plains of his chest and stomach underneath the fine cotton material or the broad shoulders.   The two women gazed at him in adoration and I wondered if he knew it.  It was sort of ridiculous and I made a mental note not to allow myself to act like an idiot around him.  I took slow steps toward him to make sure he saw me, but not wanting to interrupt the conversation with his friends.
He bent slightly to listen to something the woman touching him said, but his eyes continued their search for me.  My heart stopped when his eyes landed on mine and his lips lifted in the start of a small smile.  He was so breathtakingly handsome.  This was a chance to just look at him.  He put up his hand and spoke to the group around him.  Excusing himself, he walked toward me with his backpack slung over his right shoulder.  The two girls turned to watch him walk away, disappointment and curiosity in their eyes as they checked me out.
“Hey.” His soft voice washed over me warmly as he flashed a quick smile.
He was several inches taller than me and I had to look up into his face.  I wanted to bite my lip, hardly able to contain the grin that was trying to break out across my mouth.  “Hey.  How was class?”
“Boring as hell.  I can’t wait until all of this basic shit is out of the way.  Want to find a place to sit and then I can get us something to eat?”
“Yeah.  Did you want to invite your friends?”
Ryan smiled again and shook his head.  “Nah.”
He motioned toward an empty booth in the corner and I preceded him to it, flung my backpack in and shoved it closer to the wall as I slid in. Ryan did the same across from me.  I watched him run a hand through his hair.
“Did you get the psych assignment read?” he asked.
“Ugh,” I rolled my eyes and Ryan chuckled.  “It was so bad I couldn’t concentrate.  I think I’ll have to read it out loud to get through it.”
“That’s what I’m afraid of.  Maybe we can take turns and then just fill each other in.”
I smiled, leaning back against the booth, pleased at the prospect of studying together.  “Okay.”
We started talking and time flew.  We talked about my parents’ divorce, his life growing up in Chicago, how his family adopted his best friend when they were ten and my father’s latest criminal case, both of us leaning in toward each other intently.  I ate up his words and he was equally engaged and truly interested in all I was telling him.  We fell into a rhythm that was easy, yet made my heart thud inside my chest.  I’d forgotten I was hungry until my stomach rumbled loudly and Ryan chuckled.
My eyes widened.  “Wow. That’s embarrassing.”
“It’s my fault!  I promised you lunch and I’ve completely failed.”  He looked around at the clock on the wall.  It was ten minutes to three.  “The grill closes soon so we’d better order.  What would you like?”
“I’m not picky.  Grilled chicken sandwich and tea?”
“I’ll be back.”  I watched him walk away, and couldn’t help but admire the easy grace with which he moved or the eyes that followed his every move.  I wondered about the young woman he was speaking to before.  Surely she wasn’t his girlfriend or she would have joined us for lunch.  In no time, I had the sandwich, green tea and a pile of fries in front of me. Ryan had a burger, onion rings and Coke.  He shoved the rings toward me.  “I wasn’t sure if you wanted fries or rings, so…”
I pushed my fries in the middle of the table, too.  “How ‘bout we share?”
Ryan smiled and grabbed an onion ring.  “I hoped you’d say that.”  He dipped it in the ketchup I squirted along side and took a big bite.  “How come I haven’t seen you around before?”
